International athletics coaches at Sports Coach Education Switzerland
“Self and Team Management” – that was the topic of the one-week module Sports Coach Education Switzerland (TBS Week), which was held from 12 until 16 September in Magglingen. The participants were athletics coaches from the “Elite Strength and Conditioning Course” from five countries.
In September, 18 athletics coaches met at the National Sports Centre in Magglingen for the last module in the five-part “Elite Strength and Conditioning Course” entitled “Self-Management & Team-Management” (ESC2).
During the first three days, the specialists from Finland, France, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland discussed self-management processes based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
The next two days were shaped by team management factors and processes. For instance, a number of roles and team values as well as possible conflicts were discussed.
SFISM sport psychologists Daniel Birrer and Gareth Morgan drew up and implemented the input in collaboration with the TBS employees responsible for the modules, Manuela Müller and Adrian Rothenbühler.
A presentation by iconic coach Jean-Pierre Egger, an active butterfly volleyball session, a training visit to the EHC Biel ice hockey club and a tour of the National Sports Centre rounded out the course week. A convivial evening at the Waldhaus over a raclette meal was the fitting conclusion to this international training module.
